What to eat

Postby fitnessk » Mon Apr 09, 2012 10:10 pm

I still want to lose a few pounds from when I had my last child. But at the same time, I want to start doing more heavy duty weight training workouts. I am trying to figure out what types of foods to eat to energize me and give me the protein sources I need for weight training while still eating well for weight loss.

Try eating less carbohydrates. And well, you can never go wrong with meat or even protein supplements.

Thank you for this thread. I am in the same boat and am interested to see what the responses are. I never had a problem staying in shape before children, so I am excited to be on this forum to learn more about ways to become a healthier person and also help my family. I am gathering so far to cut the carbs that I have loved so much for so long....sniff sniff!!

To lose weight the majority of your diet should be protein, with a relatively high amount of quality fats in the form of free range eggs, grass fed meat, avocado, and coconut. Carbs should be restricted.

Eggs are great, especially for breakfast, they are packed full of protein and help to keep you feeling full. I would add a slice of wholemeal toast for extra energy and fibre.

Have you tried this before? Any info to back this up? I am always trying to do super low-carb, but I cave. If I could do it "legally" once a week, I might get somewhere.

I've had luck doing an Atkins/South Beach Diet type of plan. Only lean meat, low GI veggies, nuts and cheese. (No fruit/bread/processed foods) Good luck!

I am interested in this as well. I know this is something which I have been trying to find, but I have found the Atkins diet is something to work, but my friends who did this also had weight gain after they stopped the dieting program.

I recommend lots of vegetables, especially leafy green vegetables like broccoli. Try to stay away from foods made with refined sugars, because they are usually high in calories and low in nutrition. Lean meats like chicken breast, nuts and beans, and fruits are all excellent in the right proportions.

I heard the Atkns diet is not healthy for you, but I could be wrong. I would advise eating something that is low in sugar and high in protein.
