TRAINING: Depending on the day my training varies. On grappling days I obviously focus on wrestling and jiu-jitsu. Lately I have been working with some high level wrestlers here in Iowa. On standup days I work with my boxing coach, usually pads followed by sparring…no matter the day I do strength and conditioning after. A lot of weight lifting, plyometrics, weighted pull-ups, cross training, kettlebell and tires, stuff like that. It’s probably my favorite part of training.

When and why did you start training for fighting?I stared training about five years ago. I love working out more than anything and missed competing in high school. What ranks and titles have you held? I have had the Midwest cage championship’s lightweight and flyweight belts, also the Revolution Cage Combat lightweight belt

Do you have any heroes? My father

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It’s a dream come true; it’s what I have been working for the last five years. I have always wanted to be one of the best fighters in the world and now I have a chance to live my dream.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I have an associates degree in business administration

What was your job before you started fighting? I am currently a collector; I collect on Home Depot accounts

Favorite grappling technique: The triangle; I have the 2nd most wins by triangle in MMA history

Favorite Striking technique: Knees and leg kicks

•    15 wins by submission, 11 of those by triangle choke.•    Has never gone the distance

•    Competed on season 12 of The Ultimate Fighter, losing to Marc Stevens.

•    Four year pro

  1. Kumari says:
What are you people tnialkg about??It’s impossible to lose weight and gain weight at the same time (burning fat vs building muscle). You cannot do both.If you haven’t been exercising in a while, then start working out, yes you will probably experience both fat loss and muscle gain. But soon your body will catch on and you will only accomplish one or the other. If you are building muscle, yes you will burn some fat but not noticeable amounts. And if you are trying to burn fat, you may gain some muscle in the process, but not noticeable amounts. Also, trying to fit both of these goals into one exercise plan will severely hurt all results.Do some reading. You can read the ebook I read called Burn the fat, feed the muscle . It’s not free but maybe you can find a way to download it illegally if you want. The main reason is because of the diet. In a fat burning diet, you will avoid lots of excess product in your food. While in a muscle building diet, you will want excess protein and whatnot to feed your muscle growth. You can’t limit your caloric intake for fat burning AND increase your caloric intake for muscle gaining at the same time. It’s not possible. If you attempt to accomplish both goals, you will be very disappointed in the results. Choose either to burn fat or gain muscle, set a goal, and accomplish that goal before switching to another program.
