TRAINING: Hell! (Laughs) I train three times a day. Conditioning or jiu-jitsu in the morning. Boxing in the afternoons. And 8:30pm is sparring, either kickboxing or full MMA sparring. Or I do jiu-jitsu sparring.

When and why did you start training for fighting? I started training at 17 under Master Lloyd Irvin to fight in the UFC.

What ranks and titles have you held? Bronze Medalist in 2008 Brown Belt BJJ mundials, UWC Bantamweight champ

Do you have any heroes? My father, Brandon Vera, Phil Davis, Domin8r (Dominick Cruz), Master Lloyd Irvin, Jose Pele

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It means the world; it’s been my dream since I was 17; it will provide my family with a better life

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? Massage therapy school

What was your job before you started fighting? Martial arts instructor

Specific accomplishments in amateur competition? Bronze Medalist in 2008 Brown Belt BJJ mundials, WKA World Champion, WKA National Champion
