TRAINING: Morning mitt work, sparring, and grappling. Afternoon strength and conditioning. Evening technique. Some days are reversed.

When and why did you start training for fighting? May of 2002. I always loved the sport my dad and friends got me in to it.

What ranks and titles have you held? Sportfight light heavyweight title, ISKA middleweight title, Desert Brawl middleweight title, Ring Wars middleweight title.

Do you have any heroes? My dad, Randy Couture, Dan Gable.

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It’s an honor, and a long time coming.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? School of Hard Knocks, and I’m a graduate of the Team Quest instructors course.

What was your job before you started fighting? Bouncer and bartender.

Accomplishments in amateur competition? Desert Brawl middleweight title

Favorite grappling technique: Physical domination

Favorite Striking technique: Elbows

•    Finalist on season three of TUF

•    Four of seven losses by submission (three of those by technical submission)

•    Holds non-UFC wins over Dave Menne, Nick Thompson, and Glover Teixeira.

•    13 wins by submission, five by KO
