When and why did you start training for fighting? I started with Team Quest about two years before it was called Team Quest.

What ranks and titles have you held? Gladiator Challenge Light Heavyweight Champion.  Hitman Light Heavyweight Champion.  Danger Zone Light Heavyweight Champion.  Rumble at the River tournament Champion.  2x University National Champion.  NCAA All-American, US. Olympic Team Alternate.

Do you have any heroes? Pope John Paul II.

What is your favorite technique? I like arm throws and leg locks.

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? This is my dream.  I’ve wanted this since 1993.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I have a degree from the University of Oregon in sociology.

What was your job before you started fighting? I was a realtor and an elected public official (precinct member district 22).

•    Has won ten of his last 13 bouts, including a November 2008 decision over previously unbeaten WEC middleweight champ Paulo Filho.

•    Three wins by submission, seven by TKO / KO

•    Holds wins over Jason Miller, Jason Lambert, Homer Moore, Alex Stiebling, Tim Credeur, Tim McKenzie and Amar Suloev. Has also faced Terry Martin, Forrest Griffin, and Akihiro Gono.

•    Loss to Silva was UFC 117’s Fight of the Night
