Toney Freeman




Toney Freeman was born on August 30th, 1966 in South Bend, Indiana. He was given the nickname “X Man” because of his wide, muscular shoulders, flaring quads, and small waist. His physique resembles the letter “X”. He has been competing since 1993, yet didn’t turn pro until his late thirties since it took awhile to fill out his large frame. He is also taller than many other bodybuilders, at 6’2”.

Toney Freeman is one of the most widely recognized pros in the industry. His first National Physique Committee contest was in 1993, when he won in the Junior Nationals Competition. His first professional competition was in 2003 at the IFBB Night of the Champions, where he ranked eleventh.

His very first show was Mr. Savannah in 1983, where he ranked 4th place. He earned second place at the next show, The Coastal Empire. He has come a long way over the years and started winning first place in professional competitions in 2006. He took a give year break from 1996 – 2001, due to an injury.

Toney was supposed to participate at this year’s Australian Grand Prix, but was unable to do so do to passport problems. He currently resides in Atlanta, GA.
