Have You Ever Fallen Victim to a Hollywood Fad Diet?

Postby AnonaMoss » Sun May 20, 2012 1:58 pm

I heard a model mention that she ate less than 600 calories when she wanted to lose weight for a show.

I've fallen victim to a fad diet when I was in highschool. For about two months I only consumed 600 calories. I would eat one Red Baron personal pizza per day and drink orange juice or water. When I realized what I was doing to my body was not healthy I stopped, and started eating more. Of course, my body missed getting the calories it needed so I gained the weight I managed to lose within two weeks. I started walking everywhere, and that really helped me to manage my weight.

What about you? Have you ever fallen victim to a fad diet?

Silly goose. :D
Everyone knows Celebs don't diet, they just eat a tape worm, and the weight just sort of falls off. 8-)

No, but I wanted to try the Hollywood Diet juice. I think that was the name. Anyway, you were supposed to lose ten pounds after drinking it for a specified amount of time. I wanted to try an experiment with it, as clearly once you started eating again, you'd gain the weight back.

So, I wanted to do the drink and then come up with the correct follow up diet that would lessen the weight gain and see how that worked out. Clearly, I never did it, or I'd be telling you what happened.

I don't believe any of those diets. The reason they have name drop with celebrities is because they think people will fall for it. What they fail to mention is that these same people most likely have personal trainers and work out for hours a day.

It's not so much that they work out for hours a day, as it is that they have professionals that have studied their bodies and their lives and create the most efficient and effective plan out for them.

The same with the chefs that they hire. Working out for hours won't get you into shape if you're doing it inefficiently.

I realize working out ineffectively no matter how long will not produce results. They have personal trainers that help them work out to be in the shape they are and there are many celebrities who even say they work out for hours per day. All I am saying is I am not going to fall for a diet fad just because a celebrity is endorsing it. They have access to resources that most normal people do not have.

I disagree. There is very little that the trainers to the stars are doing that can't be researched or discovered by the average person on their own. It is really just a matter of how hard does a person want to change their body and health?

If it is something that is truly important to you, then you'll invest either the time to learn it yourself or the money to hire the person that can do it for you.

It's just like when women shun weight lifting because they don't want to get "bulky." If they took five minutes to learn about the female anatomy, they'd know that the chances of them becoming bulky is slim to none, because the average woman won't put in enough time in either the gym or the kitchen to do what it takes to look like a fitness athlete and certainly not, Ms. Olympia.

The Hollywood fad diets that I have read in magazines seem way too scary for me to attempt. I would much rather try to lose weight gradually by eating a well balanced diet with some decent exercise routines included instead. Just because the stars are doing it, doesn't mean we should be doing it too.

My mum once tried the cabbage diet because she read about a celebrity losing loads of weight on the diet. As with all fad diets, she did lose lots of weight while on the diet, but she regained the weight as soon as she came off the diet.

I don't pay any attention to what Hollywood fad diets.

I had been swayed. I thought about the master cleanse. A few celebrities used it. When I read the details I said no go. Mama likes to get her grub on. I can eat healthy but no one puts the brakes on eating at all. I'll pass.
