Dr. Oz Weight Loss Diet Tips
Dr. Mehmet Oz is a well-known and respected doctor. Unlike other popular doctors and nutritionists, Dr. Oz does not endorse questionable supplements and fad diet. His approach to health, weight loss and dieting is straightforward and easy to follow. If you have seen The Dr. Oz Show, you know what I am talking about. If you have not seen The Dr. Oz Show, I highly recommend it.
So what does Dr. Oz have to say about dieting, keeping the pounds off during the holidays and staying healthy during the flu season? Does he recommend doing a sugar detox to lose weight? Does he recommend taking Echinacea to fight a cold? Here is a recent interview with Dr. Oz in which you will find a lot of useful information on the subject dieting, weight loss and health.
Do Airborne, zinc pills and echinacea really work to cure a cold? None have been shown to be effective. I recommend North American ginseng to boost the immune system.
Which foods help with colds? Garlic – a natural immune system booster – will help you fight colds. Also, foods with Vitamin D – like egg yolks and fish – are great. I also recommend leafy green veggies since they have lutein, which helps the liver detox the body.
Speaking of food, how can we avoid gaining weight during the holidays? You do not have to eat what your family is eating. Your grandmother knows you love her without eating five plates of her food! So, eat small portions – hors doeuvres are a great way to avoid overeating. Also, drink lots of water during meals.
Can you suggest a calorie-friendly cocktail? Wine is the best choice, while eggnog is probably the worst. Hard liquors have the fewest calories per drink, but a glass of wine has lots of heart benefits.
And what can we do about that awful hangover from too much holiday partying? The most effective cure for a hangover is to avoid drinking in excess to begin with. That being said, clear liquors tend to be easier on the head the next day than dark spirits. Also, try to drink a glass of water between each alcoholic drink.
Any recommendations for reducing holiday stress? Adopt the attitude that holidays are time for fun, relaxation and gratitude for all that is good in your life. The world is not going to end if you do not get everything done.
What is a healthy fix for a sweet tooth? Focus on fruit. You will be surprised how much you do not miss the cheesecake!
How can people avoid being depressed during the winter? The decrease in sunlight affects melatonin levels in the brain; this lowers the bodys serotonin levels, which is a main trigger for depression. I recommend taking at least 1,000 mg of Vitamin D a day.
