Most popular thanks giving recipes for anytime delicious meals
Thanksgiving recipes offer a host of opportunities for creativity when preparing the course of the holiday meal. It is believed to be one of the best holiday seasons to experiment and sample with new creations or prepare traditional choices that have delighted people throughout the ages. Thanksgiving turkey for one does not need to be unexciting and tiresome. With the proper blend of spices and cooking methods, you can have a flavorsome Thanksgiving turkey.
The most trying part of fixing a Thanksgiving meal is the time when it happens. One good way of getting holiday dishes on the table is to request your guests to bring out the starters while you get the turkey ready.
However, if you want to do it all alone, prepare as many dishes ahead of time, and warm them on Thanksgiving Day.
Here is an example of a great side dish to go along with your turkey.
Turnip and Carrot Casserole
Ingredients:
One small turnip
10 medium carrots
Two cups of grated old cheddar cheese
Two tablespoon butter
One teaspoon oregano
One teaspoon basil
One cup of coarse bread crumbs
Salt and pepper according to taste
Thinly dab a casserole dish with cream or butter. Peel off the outer layer of the turnip and dice it; boil the turnip cubes until they are soft and drain out the excess water and keep it aside to cool.
Scrape the outer skin of the carrot and chop them; boil the chopped carrots until soft and drain out the excess water.
Squash the diced and chopped turnips and carrot together in a bowl. Blend in one and half cups of old cheddar cheese, the remaining butter or cream, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper in the same bowl along with carrots and turnips.
Blend well and put the blended dish in a casserole dish. Use the remaining 3/4 cup of grated cheese and bread crumbs to top the casserole. Wrap up the casserole dish and chill it in the refrigerator.
Place the covered casserole it in a preheated oven and bake it for one hour at 350°.
Some other examples of great side dishes:
Zesty mashed potatoes
Any main thanksgiving dish such as turkey, roast, or duck can be complemented well with mashed potatoes. Mashed potatoes made with chicken broth, cream and chives pack a piquant punch that goes fabulously with a holiday turkey or duck dish.
Asparagus with Parmesan
This unique side dish stands out as a creative Thanksgiving side dish. Blend it with balsamic vinegar, mustard, and olive oil and serve it immediately. It is easy to prepare and great on taste that will have your guests asking for more.
