The Candy Diet Review:
Background
Most people will simply light up when they hear this title. Candy for dieting? It seems to good to be true. Well, there is indeed a Candy Diet which is based on the book “The Candy Diet – Taming the Hunger Monster” written by Mark Underwood. However, even through there is a book on the subject, the fact of the matter is that effectively using candy to diet truly is too good to be true and this book makes promises it can’t really deliver. The book has a weak premise that is based around the concept that there is a “Hunger Monster” that lives within us. Eating candy throughout the day can “tame it.” The book includes three types of diets that use candy. The first is called “Losing A Few Pounds” to lose weight moderately, the second is called “More Aggressive Weight Loss,” and the third is “The Extreme Candy Diet” for people looking to lose weight rapidly. The book advocates that candy fits into good nutrition and shouldn't be considered a sin.
What to Eat
The main part of this book is based on a typical diet strategy. Candy is used just to curb appetite. This book also includes recipes for making your own hard candy.
The Good
The book will excite many dieters with its enticing title. Also the idea that candy can be used as part of a diet in moderation is true. Often dieters are more successful when they just embrace eating something like candy in moderation, rather than completely avoiding foods they love. Total avoidance of foods can lead to binging. This book does embrace a regular philosophy of calorie reduction and better nutrition to lose weight.
The Bad
Most people already know that popping a hard candy into their mouth will often curb their appetite so they don’t need a book to tell them that fact. Candy can disrupt blood sugar levels, and cause tooth decay. In general, candy provides few nutrients for the calories and does not actually help people lose weight. This book might allure readers with high hopes. Shortly thereafter, readers will find out that this concept is a bit of a gimmick.
Exercise
Chapter 8, of the book entitled “Easy Exercise” provides suggestions for exercise for people with busy lives.
Cost
The book costs $11.95 for a paperback.
