The Amazing Adventures of Dietgirl Review:

Background
“I’ve got the biggest knickers in Australia” is not how most diet books begin. Then again, this is not strictly a diet book; it is a personal autobiography based on the blog of dieter Shauna Reid. In short, it’s a diary. It covers her person diet history, a lot of random ramblings (and not so random ramblings), and a reasonably complete journal of her thoughts as she pursued a lower weight. As such, this book is worth a read-through, if for no other reason than to solidify one’s own thoughts about the problems of dieting, and how to overcome those problems.
What to Eat
This is a diary, not a diet. However, there may be some wisdom to be garnered about why certain diets fail by reading this book. Knowing what worked for Reid may help you avoid your own mistakes.
The Good
Besides the book, there is also a blog available, so the author is always available and there is some community support. Shauna has a definite sense of humor, and it can get you past some of what would normally be some problem areas. You will laugh, you will cry, and you may even learn a thing or two.
The Bad
If you hated Bridget Jones’ Diary, you’ll hate this book. There is no specific diet advice available, so you are mostly left to making your own decisions based on what worked for the author.
Exercise
Exercise is encouraged but you are left to design your own program.
Costs
The book costs $13.95.
