But do not worry, we are here to sort things out. What is the Cheat Day Diet all about? Before I will answer this question, I think it is important to understand the limitation of this diet. While the diet certainly works, if you think you can go on this diet and lose 10 pounds in 72 hours, you will be disappointed.
The Cheat Day Diet is all about sustainability. Most people stick to diets from one to three months, if they can stick to them at all. Some people only stick to them for a couple of days, says psychologist Dr. Leslie Seppinni. However, if you allow yourself to indulge once a week, your chances of keeping to a healthy, balanced lifestyle soar. Dieting is mostly mental, and if you feel deprived or like you are constantly denying yourself things you love, your diet will not work.
As for reports that say cheating jump-starts your metabolism and makes your body work harder, personal trainer Harley Pasternak says they are simply not true. It has to do with your psyche and nothing to do with your metabolism. The freedom of choice and occasional indulgence will actually help you accomplish your goals. According to Pasternak, knowing you can cheat is even more important than doing it.
