Effective diet tips for conception
When you consciously decided that it is time to have a child, there are a number of changes that you need to make to your lifestyle and to your diet. Conceiving a child is a tricky business especially after you are the age of 30. This is because there are more chances of miscarriages and failed attempts than in your twenties. Trying for a child in the forties is actually the most dangerous thing that you can do for you and for your future child. It is much more prudent to adopt during this time.
The most important event for you, when you are trying for a child, is ovulation.
This is the period when you are fertile and can most accurately be judged by your basal body temperatures. Try and measure your body temperature use a basal thermometer just after you wake up in the morning. Over the course of a month or between two periods you will notice fluctuations during the time that also corresponds to when you start to get a white albumen-like discharge from the vagina.
A few days before this event is also when you will experience a subtle but heightened feeling of sexual desire.
The play of hormones is extremely important during the ovulation period. There are four hormones that are at play in ovulation: Luteinizing Hormone (LH), Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH), Estradiol, and Progesterone.
LH and FSH are stimulated in the brain and cannot be modified in anyway except by fertility treatment. Estradiol and Progesterone can be controlled to a certain degree. What you should be aiming for is a reduction in progesterone and an increase in estradiol.
This is not something that can really be controlled because the body creates hormones and it is not required from the diet.
However, you can avoid ingesting substances that can cancel out the effects of estradiol. This simply means that you need avoid progesterone containing foods. Milk is one of the biggest sources of progesterone and though progesterone is poorly absorbed in this way, it is still possible that if you are a major dairy fan, this could ruin your chances of having a child. Ovulation usually starts on the 14th day after the start of your period. A few days before the start of ovulation, avoid milk products of any kind and stick to a diet that is rich in carbohydrates and protein instead.
