Eating Mindfully Diet Review:

Background

Dr. Susan Albers (the creator of the Mindful Diet) says that the problem with diets is that the relationship of the dieter and the food consumed is the issue, and the dieter should not see food as an enemy but as a friend. By basing her diet on moderation and four principles of mindfullness to create a healthy diet, making the dieter healthier; by practicing those principles and eating a healthy diet, the person will have a much better perspective of themselves, and will feel more satisfied with who they are, thus helping them to keep a healthy weight.

What to Eat

The full spectrum of foods are available (excluding white bread). The key is to eat them in moderation, rather than what you eat. Eating every three hours is essential to control hunger and cravings. Alcohol is permitted in moderation.

The Good

You can all of the foods you are used to, just in medium portions. This diet promotes a healthy body image, which helps keep the weight down as well.

The Bad

Weight loss is not expected on this diet, but a healthy life is. It should be noted that there is no proscribed diet, which may throw dieters looking for specific foods to eat or avoid. Also, the dieter may not be able to effectively use the principles listed in the book.

Exercise

Exercise is not part of this diet, but is encouraged.
