Eat Stop Eat Review:

Background
Designed by nutritionist Brad Pilon, this diet was designed as a counter to most other diets, with an emphasis towards those that were dieting with a mind to increasing muscle mass. The diet allows for slightly greater exercise, with two days of fasting for weight loss. Because the fasting is so short, the body is tricked into thinking that there is no fat tissue and thus keeps the metabolism high. However, since there is fat tissue, the body feeds on that during the fast, thus speeding up fat tissue loss (weight loss is unaffected because of the muscle mass gained).
What to Eat
Healthy foods are a must, and so anything (including alcohol) that isn’t healthy is stricken from the diet. Also, be prepared to drink a lot of water due to exercise. Eat normally most of the week, allowing for the added exercise. For two days of the week, the dieter fasts; no caloric intake whatsoever.
The Good
Very popular among athletes who prefer not to follow carb rotation diets. Very effective for those who are focusing on muscle gain at the same time than trying to reduce total body fat.
The Bad
This is arguably a bad diet for everyone else. Bad body images are reinforced, long-term maintenance isn’t a real consideration, and those with blood sugar issues will need to find a solution during fasting days. Also, due to higher metabolism and lower fat, the person will need to eat more, which can be a problem if the intensity of the workouts diminishes.
Exercise
This diet requires intense exercise.
Costs
Assuming an internet connection, information on this diet is free. However, dieters will be buying a lot of protein shake powders, which can end up costing several hundred dollars a month.
