DietSite Review:
Overview
DietSite.com is a website whose stated purpose is to track dieters health and fitness progress online. DietSite states that it wants to help keep dieters motivated via tracking of their exercising and dieting results. Some of their dieting tools include Health Logs, Food Log, Meal Planner and Track My Weight. Exercise tools include, Cardio Log, Strength Training Log, Body Measurements and Exercise Planner. However, in order to gain access to any of these tools it will be necessary to complete a fairly detailed information form. Until one becomes a member on DietSite.com there is very little information that can be gleaned. There are a few useful charts that can be used such as Caffeine in Selected Foods, Food Additives, Sports Nutrition, Performance Aids and a section on Diets for Health and Disease. These articles do have some useful information, but there are only a few articles that one can access without signing up.
The Good
Once one files out the form, there are a variety of online tools that can be used. The Diet and Recipe Analysis, for example, has over 5,600 foods in it. Likewise, once a member it is possible to use the “Talk to a Dietitian” and “Member Forums” sections. If you don't mind filling out a form and giving away an email address, there may be some helpful tools in it for you.
The Bad
If you do not sign up with DietSite, the site is of marginal use at best. Once members have signed up it is possible to use a wide variety of tools on the site. Most of the tools found on DietSite can be found, in some form or another, elsewhere on the Internet, yet DietSite does put many of them together in the same place.
Exercise
Exercise is given a major position on DietSite.com. There is an entire section Exercise Tools that has an Exercise Planner, Cardio Log and a Strength Training Log amongst others.
Cost
The cost for DietSite is about $10 per month.
