Background

Wendy Chant is an athlete who learned the science of body fat while training; she decided to write that down so that it would help other people. The reason she found that so many people have problems losing weight is that the body itself has adapted to being as tough as it can be, and part of that is storing fat for emergencies. However, by manipulating the body’s survival features, you can lose weight; you just need to determine, over an eight-week period, what your body’s plateau is and how your body uses the energy that it takes in.

What to Eat

Both the original book and the follow-up cookbook show you how to prepare meals healthily and so that you don’t gain any more weight than you need to. Specifically, you can eat pretty much any food as long as you understand your body’s patterns, and continually adjust to those patterns. This puts pasta, for example, on the menu, even though its not allowed in most diets.

The Good

The knowledge gained from this book should be enough to help anyone understand why it’s hard to lose weight, and allow you to create strategies on how to deal with that problem.

The Bad

Nothing really bad; however, it takes a good deal of planning and ongoing effort to make this work.

Costs

There are a number of books available for this plan, with an average cost of $17.
