Background

Marcelle Pick, the co-founder of Women to Women, wrote The Core Balance Diet: 4 Weeks to Boost Your Metabolism and Lose Weight for Good. She seeks to get women back into balance so that they can have better results with weight loss. The theory is that weigh gain is often caused by an imbalance in physiology and metabolism. There are 6 common imbalance described in The Core Balance Diet: digestive, hormonal, adrenal, neurotransmitter, inflammation, and detoxification.

What to Eat

The diet starts with a detox period. Once this detox is completed, the diet that you should choose is based upon your particular type of imbalance. The foods that are recommended to most dieters are low-carb diets: 30% fat, 30% protein and 40% carbohydrates. Good foods on this diet include salmon, eggs, beans, whole grains, raw nuts and olive oil.

The Good

_The Core Balance Diet+ is a program that dieters could easily integrate into their lives and practice for an extended period of time. Further, this customization based on a person’s particular imbalance makes this diet versatile. Additionally, the book has more than 60 recipes.

Pick also explores how to remedy mental and psychological issues that might keep dieters from losing weight.

The Bad

This diet doesn't really apply to men.

Exercise

The book includes Marcelle’s Prescription for Core Physical Wellness, which offers guidelines for cardio as well as strength training.

Cost

The Core Balance Diet: 4 Weeks to Boost Your Metabolism and Lose Weight for Good costs about $17.
