Nike & Xbox to Launch a Fitness Training App

Fitness brand Nike announced a partnership with Xbox at Microsoft’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, one that sees Nike+ technology team up with the Xbox 360′s Kinect sensor.

The Xbox 360′s motion tracking Kinect was presented as an ideal substitute for the watchful eyes of Nike’s own elite physical fitness experts.

The Nike+ Kinect Training program can synchronize with mobile phones to keep users motivated with regular updates and reminders.

It will be released towards the end of 2012 and joins a wide range of health and fitness titles already available.

The Biggest Loser has enjoyed success by coupling mainstream recognition with ambitious weight-loss targets, and Zumba Fitness has explored Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii.

EA Sports targeted fitness enthusiasts with EA Sports Active 2.0 while THQ’s UFC Personal Trainer was even more combative in its approach.
