Will Smith Workout and Training for Ali
A young boy, born in West Philadelphia, spent most of his days in the playground, but grew up to become a man who spent most of his days on the set. That young man was Will Smith, also known as ‘The Fresh Prince’. Will Smith was born on September 25th, 1968 and he started off in the entertainment music as an MC with ‘DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince’.
After he won that the first ever Grammy in for Best Rap Performance for the song ‘Parents Just Don’t Understand in 1989, he was simply unstoppable. He started acting in The Fresh Prince of Bel Air which was a hit in the 90s as a television sitcom. He also starred in Independence Day (1996), Men in Black (1997), Enemy of the State (1998), Wild Wild West (1999), The Legend of Bagger Vance (2000), Ali (2001), Men in Black II (2002), iRobot (2004), Hitch (2005) and The Pursuit of Happyness (2006) I am Legend (2007).
In 1992, Will Smith had his first son by his first wife, Sheree Smith. A few years later, actress Jada Pinkett tried out for a role as his girlfriend on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air but didn’t get the part. Instead, she became his wife and the mother of two of his children in real life.
Will Smith Workout & Training: The Body Transformation
Will Smith did transform his body for Ali but he has always been one to consistently work on his

muscular physique through dieting and rigorous exercise routine. If someone were to follow the Ali Will Smith workout, they would end up working on their pectorals and shoulders, bench-pressing twice a week, running roughly 20 miles every week, and taking in a lot of protein and carbohydrates.
Now specifically for Ali, Will Smith had to get a lot bulkier than he had ever been to truly look like an Olympic winning boxer. The movie focuses on ten years of the life of Muhammed Ali, a bold and outspoken African American boxer whose heavyweight champion titles was taken away from him for political reasons.
So how did Will Smith capture the body of his ‘based on an real man’ character? He trained for six hours a day and five days a week with intense boxing, weight lifting and bench-pressing. When he ran, he ran in combat boots in the snow. Will Smith went from being 185 pounds to a whopping 220 pounds. Definately one of the all time celebrity fitness transformations. He stuck to his high carbohydrate and protein diet and only ate healthy foods. Not only did Will Smith withstand hardcore training, he had to think Ali and become Ali. His preparation for the film didn’t happen overnight. Will actually turned down the opportunity to star as Ali in this movie about five years prior. When he finally accepted the role, he knew he was ready and he had a little bit of help in his preparation process from Ali himself. When asked how he was able to go from being the ‘Fresh Prince of Bel Air’ to Ali, Will Smith answered:
One of the Most Impressive Celebrity Fitness Transformations

“Well that was definately a big part of why I turned the film down five years earlier. I could not see the path from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air to “Ali” and Michael Mann was the first person to illustrate what he called the curriculum of becoming Muhammad Ali. He laid out what the days would be like; he laid out the food that I was going to eat. He laid out the process of becoming Muhammad Ali physically and how that physical process would naturally lead to a comprehension of the mental and emotional position that Muhammad Ali lived in and how that mental and emotional space would automatically help me understand the necessity for the spiritual strength. He was the first person that essentially laid it out mathematically, the equation for becoming Muhammad Ali and that excited me.” Will Smith
