Scarlett Johansson Workout & Diet Routine for Iron Man 2
Scarlett Johansson was born on November 22, 1984 in New York City. The American born actress and singer debuted on the big screen in 1994 with her role in the movie North. Johansson was later nominated for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead for her role in the 1996 film, Manny & Lo. Scarlett’s acting career took off with her roles in The Horse Whisperer in 1998 and Ghost World in 2001. The actress is noted for her performances in Girl With A Pearl Earring and Lost In Translation for which she won multiple awards. Johansson went on to appear in various Woody Allen movies like Match Point and Scoop. The actress’ breakthrough role came in the movie Iron Man 2.
The 2010 American superhero flick, Iron Man 2 depicted Scarlett Johansson as Stark employee Natalie Rushman. Her character turns out to be an undercover spy for S.H.I.E.L.D. in the movie. Set on a 200 million dollar budget, the action film took in over 662 million dollars at the worldwide box offices. Scarlett turned to her on set trainer, Bobby Strom who pushed the actress and designed an ever-changing training regimen that lasted for five months. Johansson needed to look lean and stunning in a skin-tight body suit for her role in the movie. To get her into the best possible shape, her trainer never used the same workout twice to keep her body shocked to the training stimulus and to prevent mental boredom.
With the help from her star trainer, Bobby Strom, Johansson engaged in a 5 month long, 7 day a week training program consisting of 90 minute training sessions each day. Strom led her through a training regimen that changed daily to prevent boredom and enhance her body-shaping results. Her trainer noted that during the first workout she freaked a bit, however at the end of the workout program she could conquer anything that the trainer threw at her. During the intense 5 months the actress totally changed her lifestyle by eliminating salt from her diet and even continuing a three-day a week workout program long after the movie training.
Her Iron Man 2 body-prepping workout program consisted of cardio-strength training circuits that paired exercises that were completed with minimal rest in between movements. This circuit style allowed the actress to build lean muscle mass and burn tons of body fat all at the same time. Some exercises that were used in the training included t-push ups, split squats, and flamingo extensions. Johansson also took part in explosive movements like squat jumps and jump lunges to increase her power and strength. Trainer Bobby Strom also led her through other training methods like balance and coordination training, core conditioning and body weight exercises.
To assist in Johansson’s body fat reducing, lean muscle building progress the actress engaged in a clean eating diet. She made sure she took in a sufficient amount of calories each day to provide sustained energy and keep her hunger in check. Scarlett noted that during the training she was constantly eating meals that contained clean vegetables and lean proteins. Her meal frequency consisted of two to three hour rotations. The actress noted that she felt very strong and athletic on her eating program. Because of her fast body leaning results, there were multiple rumors growing that the actress took part in an extreme crash diet. However, Scarlett denies all reports of these rumors.
The Iron Man 2 actress took part in a well-designed celebrity fitness training program that involved effective circuit training sessions. Using a variety of exercises, the circuits allowed the actress to build a lot of lean muscle mass while eliminating excess body fat at the same time. Perhaps the circuit training aided in her fast weight loss, which sparked controversy.
