Twitching introduction
Twitching is a rather common occurrence and affects every man and women to a certain degree on a regular basis. In most cases, the individual will be unaware of the fact that his or her muscles are twitching because, more often than not, it is an involuntary action. Twitching can be of many kinds – muscle twitching, nerve twitching or even eye twitching – with each of them having their own causing factors and remedies.
As mentioned before, there are a number of times that muscle twitching will go unnoticed and the only time that one is likely to experience the same is if the excessive twitching causes the muscle or toe to visibly ‘jump’. There are a number of factors that could be the pivotal cause of muscle twitching such as anxiety and stress. These factors – also commonly known as benign fasciculation syndrome will usually not develop into anything serious.
Genetics is also considered to be a major factor in deciding which individuals suffer from twitching and is more prevalent in the case of ‘eye twitching’. Chances are that if one or both of your parents suffer from a case of severe or excessive twitching, you are going to as well.
The only real way to deal with excessive twitching is to treat the twitching symptoms. However it is necessary that you do not get too stressed out and take pains to relieve any anxiety you may be under. All of this will play a very significant role as well. Twitching during sleep and twitching at night are prime examples of the fact that the anxiety and stress levels you experience are not only prevalent in times of consciousness. In the event that you suffer from excessive eye twitching, however, you should visit a doctor to identify a remedy for this. Excessive eye twitching is called blepharospasm and is very often accompanied by a significant amount of irritation in the eyeball. Not many people are aware of the fact that one’s diet also plays a significant role in the development of the condition. You should cut down on your intake of tea or coffee as this would help you sleep better. This is something that should help reduce the intensity of the eye twitching. If you experience any significant eye strain, make sure to allow your eyes to rest by taking a short break and splashing some cold water on your eyes.
