Schizophrenia: signs of early warning

Schizophrenia is a rather serious condition that causes the sufferer to find it very hard to tell the difference between real and unreal experiences as well as develop a consistent train of thought. The early warning signs of schizophrenia are a little hard to detect and the causes of the condition are still more or less shrouded in some amount of mystery. A lot of people are still unsure about what the root cause is, despite significant research being performed on the condition year after year.

Moreover, the fact that there is no substantiated laboratory test to diagnose the condition, any accurate diagnosis lies in the psychiatric evaluation of the patient. As a result, it is extremely important to have the condition checked by a specialist. This is important as a specialist would be able to detect the early signs of schizophrenia, which could be accidentally missed out by someone that does not have much experience when it comes to dealing with schizophrenia.

Studies have shown that the condition affects as many as about 1% of the entire population of the United States, which is a figure that corresponds to almost 2 million individuals. The condition is termed to be relative psychosis because of the fact that the thoughts that a person develops are completely out of sync with actual reality at certain times. For instance, some sufferers are known to hear voices while others experience bugs crawling all over their bodies even though none of these experiences are actually taking place. Individuals suffering from schizophrenia are also likely to have problems with speech and will have extremely rigid or extremely lax behavior. The early signs of schizophrenia can start out at any age and, although it is more common in older individuals, children of very young ages are also known to suffer from the condition. There are different types of schizophrenia that are based on the symptoms that the sufferer exudes at the time of an attack.

Signs and Symptoms of Schizophrenia

Signs and symptoms of schizophrenia will determine the kind of condition that the patient suffers from. For instance, some of the most prominent signs of paranoid schizophrenia, which is the most common kind of illness in this category, include the individual experiencing illusions or auditory hallucinations, but will not exude any symptoms that are related to disorganized schizophrenia. Disorganized schizophrenia is a condition where the individual will experience disorganized speech and behavior but will now show the number of symptoms that are required for the condition to be classified as being Catatonic schizophrenia. When suffering from catatonic schizophrenia, the sufferer is likely to show two of the following symptoms: difficulty moving, excessive movement, abnormal movement and resistance to moving. When suffering from undifferentiated schizophrenia, the individual is likely to suffer from two or more symptoms such as hallucinations, disorganized speech or behavior, catatonic behavior or delusions.

Schizophrenia Tests

There has been immense progress in science and technology that has helped research work on schizophrenia. This is one of the reasons, why one could deal with the condition in a much easier way. There are a number of schizophrenia tests as well as online schizophrenia tests that have been developed to help people detect the condition as early as possible. One of the biggest challenges faced previously was the fact that detection of the condition did not happen fast enough for any medicinal treatment to prove effective. With the increasing spread of the danger of the condition through sources such as medical journals as well as the internet, people are waking up to the dangers that it will pose to their lives as well as the lives of the ones they love. As a result of these online schizophrenia tests, people can perform a rough diagnosis to have an inkling about whether they are in danger or not and then choose to see an expert about the same.
