Radiation of cell phone

I would walk a mile for you, I would climb a mountain, I would swim across oceans (okay, so I may be exaggerating slightly!), but I would do just about anything to find my missing cell phone! An animate friend that keeps you company through bouts of boredom and even moments of embarrassment, the cell phone has for innumerable reasons become an indispensable part of our everyday lives.
No wonder, gadget manufacturers like Apple are actually capitalizing on and nurturing this ideology of cell phones as companion and true friend by developing phones with speech interpretation and recognition interfaces.

Social networking, researching, and just chatting with friends have all been integrated into that little device. So even if you’d come across articles reporting comprehensive study findings about cell phone radiation, you’d not about to stop using your trendy gadget.
Well, here’s the good news! Researchers claim that though cell phones emit a certain amount of radiation, there are safety measures that users can practice to protect themselves and thereby prevent any kind of serious risks to health.

Health risks due to cell phone radiation – Is it hyperbolic jabber?

Cell phones have a whole lot of complex data being transmitted via radio frequencies. These radio frequencies connect your cell phone to the cell phone tower. These radio waves are made up of electromagnetic radiation. According to several on-going studies, cell phone radiation can cause cancers, lower bone density and infertility in men. An international study on cell phones and cancer revealed that persons who used cell phones for 10 years or more had doubled the rate of brain glioma – a type of brain tumor. Even the European Environmental Agency has encouraged studies that discuss health hazards caused by cell phones. The Federal Communications Commission (FCCI) has a maximum Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) that cell phone manufacturers cannot exceed. SAR is a measure of the rate of Radiofrequency (RF) energy absorbed by the body from the cell phone. There are long term effects of cell phone radiation, but there is no reason why you should completely avoid using your cell phone. Read on to find out how you can safeguard yourself from the radiations.

Limit the radiation exposure

Resort to earphones – Over the head or in-ear, whatever suits you best. Different kinds of trendy looking earphones are available in the market these days. Aside from the convenience, headsets emit less radiation and thereby reduce health risks. Use your phone in speaker mode whenever you’re alone in the cabin. Your basic aim is to keep the phone at a distance from you as and when you can.
Low signal, less conversation – Wait until you reach your home or your office cabin to make that important call. While you are moving around, in case you step into an area where the signal is weak, your cell phone will have to work twice as hard to keep you connected. More radiation is emitted to keep your cell phone connected to the cellular tower. Avoid using your cell phone in the elevator and while travelling by train.

Text to chat – The QWERTY keypads, expressive emoticons and better screen resolutions just made texting more enjoyable. Have fun sending your pals those group messages and sharing with them the most trivial incidents. Bear in mind the same rule at all times– radiation and health risks are less so long as the phone’s away from your head. However, take care not to lean your phone against your body while enjoying the chatting.

Train your kid – Your children can be greatly impacted by strong radiations. Their skulls are thinner and therefore radiation can penetrate easily into their brain. You could suggest that they use their phone for emergencies only, but it is your responsibility to make sure they adhere to the advice.
