Problem of balanitis children

Balanitis is a medical complication that affects male children and recent surveys have shown that as many as 7 in every 100 male children suffer from it. The condition is primarily the inflammation of the penis glans, or the tip of the penis. Also known as blanaoposthitis, the head of the penis tends to become very irritated and inflamed – usually the result of some fungal or bacterial infection or may be even some chemical irritant.

The condition is known to be more common amongst uncircumcised men as well as individuals suffering from diabetes. The condition is not sexually transmitted and is caused essentially by an overgrowth of the organisms that are present on the skin of the glans. The symptoms of the condition will usually start to show up between the third and seventh day of the development of the condition.
Some of the more noticeable symptoms include a red, itchy and moist penis as well as the discharge of some amount of fluid from the penis. The first visible signs of the condition, however, involve the development of a few small, red erosions on the undersurface of the foreskin. If the condition remains unchecked, it could result in the development of confluent ulcerations that will usually develop along with some considerable edema of the penis.

Because of the fact that balanitis is such a common condition in all males, children or adults, a number of effective home remedies have been developed through the years that will prove to be rather beneficial. However, the first and foremost rule of prevention is always to make sure that you follow simple rules of hygiene and make sure that you wash your penis and scrotum with soap and water on a daily basis. One of the best treatment options can be performed in the comfort of your own home, while having a shower. All you need to do is slide back the foreskin of the penis until the head is completely exposed and, using lukewarm water, gently wash the head and foreskin. The use of some kind of glycerin cream can help substantially and is better than using soap as it may tend to irritate the skin. Allow the foreskin and head of the penis to dry by leaving it exposed to air for a period of about 10 minutes to make sure that all the moisture has evaporated. Make sure to apply some antifungal cream over the affected area for a period of 10 days to speed up the treatment process.
