Prevention and treatment of memory impairment




The commonest form of memory impairment is verbal amnesia. In this condition, the person forgets the words or the names. An uncommon form of this amnesia is a temporary loss of one’s memory, wherein a person may even forget his or her own identity, including their name, family background, age, and any other recollection of their past.

Alzheimer’s disease is also another common problem that is faced by old people. This disease can slowly and gradually take over a person’s mind leaving it as blank as any clean slate. Alzheimer’s disease is a brain disorder and is one of the fairly common causes of the disease dementia.

Once a person crosses the age of 60 they tend to become even prone to getting affected by this disease. After some time the patients lose total touch with the real world. Some causes of Amnesia are due to impairment of the patient’s brain cells by various diseases. Some other psychological causes also lead to a weakness developing in the patient’s brain. Anxiety neurosis that results from an attention seeking disorder in people can also aggravate this problem. Injury can further be a reason for loss of memory.

 

Some of the home remedies to help in curing memory loss problems include using rosemary. Rosemary has been found to be the herb of remembrance. When inhaled it causes the brain to clear up. It is found to be an antidote for forgetfulness and fatigue. It also enhances mental agility. Sage is also found to be a useful herb in helping to treat loss of memory and weak memory. This herb should be dried then ground in a little water along with a few almonds and a dash of pepper. When drunk regularly on an empty stomach it is found to have a good effect on the memory. Almonds are also good in restoring one’s poor memory that is the result of brain weakness. Almonds have properties that help in preserving the person’s brain vitality. Soak a few almonds over night in water then remove their outer skin the next morning. Grind them in to a fine paste and eat it along with honey or butter. This is a useful home remedy in fighting brain weakness. Walnuts also help in countering any problems of brain weakness. Eat about 20 grams of this dry fruit on a daily basis to enhance a person’s memory and fight off the memory loss weakness.
