Home remedies on zits

The term zit is used to describe a pimple and is the colloquial term used to describe this skin condition. Zits can be the source of serious social anxiety because individuals suffering from zits are often embarrassed by the condition. Zits usually occur when the pores of the skin get clogged with dirt and oil.

Zits or pimples are extremely common amongst adolescents, particularly among adolescent boys. At this age, youngsters are experiencing several changes in their bodies. Most of these changes are hormone driven and this is often blamed as the reason for the development of zits.

In many cases, zits form in clumps or groups on particular parts of the face. This can be even more embarrassing for the individual. There are many zits home remedies that one can seek to prevent this socially awkward condition from worsening. Zits are also the effect of a skin condition known as acne. Acne itself can be normally occurring in teenaged individuals or it could be more serious where treatment may be required.

When it comes to zits home remedies, one of the effective tools is the use of a paste made with lime juice. Lime juice tends to dry the zit out and can help reduce its size. Lime juice also lightens skin which may have become dark around the zit spot. One should note that this procedure may be uncomfortable because lime juice is acidic and can cause burning to occur.

Another popular zits home remedy is the use of raw garlic. Garlic is a useful medicinal plant. The cloves of garlic should be cut and peeled. This raw garlic can then be rubbed on the affected area. Garlic is a known anti-inflammatory agent. This agent acts very effectively against inflammations caused by zits.

Another rather unconventional zits home remedy is the use of toothpaste on the affected area. Many people use toothpaste when suffering from burns, particularly if burn creams are not immediately available. The same applies to zits as well. The use of toothpaste for zits is very common and easy. A small amount of toothpaste is applied to the zit which helps reduce its size and appearance very quickly.

A good practice for all people, particularly youngsters, is to wash the face regularly with cool water. The use of soap may be avoided for every wash, being used only for alternate washes. The regular splashing of water on the face may help to clear the pores of dirt and may therefore help to prevent zits from forming in the first place. The use of home remedies for zits for a fast cure may not really prove to be very beneficial as home remedies require time to treat the skin well and cure may take a few days or weeks.
