Bacterial vaginosis remedies in home




Bacterial vaginosis is an inflammation in the vagina because of overgrowth of a particular kind of bacteria which increases the alkalinity in that region. The prominent symptoms of this infection are a thick white or yellow discharge from the vagina. This discharge may also have a foul smell.

There may also be an itching or a burning sensation in that area while urinating. Some other complaints can also be of redness and swelling and a stabbing pain. Being just a bacterial infection it can be easily treated but if this continues there are other risks involved and so it is best to keep consulting a doctor for that.

It can be cured and prevented by some personal hygiene and simple home remedies for bacterial vaginosis. Yogurt is said to effectively fight bacterial infections and so you could make it a habit to eat a tub of yogurt everyday till the infection subsides or ends. More over you could also apply the yogurt externally. Soak a wad of cotton in yogurt and use a tampon and insert it in to your vagina or it can also be applied directly on the affected area. Tea also has similar properties and therefore you could soak a tea bag in water and the cool it and apply a compress externally it will help in reducing the itching. To reduce redness or the swelling you could also apply a cold compress to the affected area. Soak a cloth in cold water and keep it over that area for a few minutes and the take it off, repeat this a few times. Turmeric is said to have a lot of medicinal properties and has a soothing effect for pain and on the nerves. Mix two teaspoons of turmeric in a glass of warm milk, add a dash of honey and sip it slowly. It will help in fighting the infection and making it subside. Another way is to take two cups of apple cider vinegar and add it to your bath water and soak in it for at least 20 minutes. The vinegar will fight the toxins that cause infection. Tea tree oil also can be added to the bath water or applied externally around the affected area. Drinking vegetable juices would also be effective in fighting this kind of an infection. Apart from these home remedies for bacterial vaginosis personal hygiene is very important. Keep your toilets clean, never share towels or underwear. Always use clean bed sheets and pillow covers. Good personal hygiene goes a long way in preventing infections.
