Cure of mouth ulcer




A mouth ulcer is a painful sore that typically occurs on the lips, tongue, gums or the insides of the cheeks in the mouth. The onset of mouth ulcers can be recognized by a burning or tingling sensation in the mouth followed by sores that are present in clusters or singly. They are usually yellowish white in color and take around 8- 10 days to heal completely.

A person suffering from mouth ulcers experiences sharp stinging pain especially when eating spicy or hot food. Some of the causes of mouth ulcers are hormonal imbalances. Digestive disorders such as constipation, improper diet, genetic reasons, anemia, allergic reaction to chemicals etc could also lead to the occurrence of mouth ulcers.

Mouth ulcers usually occur on production of excessive heat in the body due to improper digestion. Certain natural cures for mouth ulcers involve reduction in the intake of tea, caffeine, fatty and oily foods. Constipation leading to mouth ulcers can be avoided by consuming fiber rich green vegetables. Yam and papaya are excellent foods to be consumed while suffering from mouth ulcers as they tend to soothe them thereby speeding up the recovery. Fenugreek leaves when mixed with water and gargled acts as an effective mediator against mouth ulcers. Some more other home remedies or for mouth ulcers involve grating fresh coconut and adding water to it to prepare coconut milk. Mouth ulcers can be cured effectively by gargling with this coconut milk at least 3-4 times a day. Gargling your mouth with hot and cold water alternatively also helps in handling mouth ulcers. Another effective home remedy against oral ulcers involves boiling one teaspoon or coriander seeds in one cup of water and then gargling your mouth 3-4 times a day with this concoction. Consuming tomatoes raw also helps in curing and preventing mouth ulcers from recurring. A pinch of turmeric powder when mixed with one teaspoon of glycerine is also highly effective in curing mouth ulcers naturally. Licorice is also highly effective in treating a number of dental and oral problems such as mouth ulcers on account of its soothing effect. The Indian gooseberry which is available in most ethnic foods stores is an effective aid against constipation. Hence mouth ulcers can be completely cured by consuming them as it also helps in minimizing the pain associated with mouth ulcers.

 

In most people mouth ulcers are temporary a phenomenon which disappears after 8 – 10 days, however in case of prolonged or recurrent mouth ulcers, professional medical guidance should be taken.
