Bowel habits change
Changes in a person’s physiology happen from the time of birth, therefore all changes in body habits should not be worrisome. Only drastic changes that take place in adulthood are a reason for worry. A person who had normal bowel habits has a reason to worry if these habits change to irritable ones.
Change in bowel habits could be due to several reasons, one of these could be gastroenteritis. Gastroenteritis, is inflammation of stomach linings, virus bacteria or parasites could cause this illness. This causes diarrhea and vomiting, people generally recover all by themselves, it is necessary that people keep themselves properly hydrated if they want to treat this illness.
Dietary changes too can bring a change in bowel habits, if a person was eating food with less fiber and now his food contains more fiber, there is a possibility that his bowel habits might change for good. Similarly a person who has eaten spicy food might find change in bowel habits which will last temporarily.
Irritable bowel syndrome is another cause for change in bowel habits. Irritable bowel syndrome symptoms are a collection of symptoms; these are cramping, bloating, gas, constipation, etc. This is a functional disorder that means functioning for large colon does not become proper, it may either contract or expand after eating thus causing pain and cramps. There is no explanation available for this syndrome.
Change in bowel habits is generally temporary in nature. Most of the times it is due to something wrong that was eaten by the person. Change in bowel habits occurs only with dietary changes or will illness like the gastroenteritis.
People who have are experiencing change over a long period of time should get a check up done with their doctor so that he can guide them with possible tests in order to find if there are any other reasons for change in bowel habits.
Eating contaminated food too, can bring in a change in bowel habits; this change too is temporary in nature and can be cured by bringing in eating light food and taking proper medicines.
People suffering from syndrome should try remedial measures which will help them avoid contraction or expansion of the bowel thus avoiding any type of pain or cramps in their large colon, which is largely responsible for storing stools inside the body.
Change in bowel habits is not all that dangerous, therefore, for a slight change a person does not require going to a doctor. A doctor is required only if there is blood in stools or spasms which do not go away.
