Back to a Healthy Routine

Falling off of your exercise routine can be incredibly frustrating. We start seeing our hard earned work slowly disappear, our diet gets worse and worse everyday, we start telling ourselves we will get back on track soon. Weeks pass, then months and we are still doing the same bad habits. At this point you know you are on the downward spiral to becoming an unhealthy statistic.

What can we do to get out of this terrible rut of unhealthy habits?

1.) Go through your entire house/apartment and throw away all unhealthy foods immediately, No exceptions.

2.) You need to stalk up on some healthy foods and prepare them ahead of time so you do not have the urge to eat the junk food at your work or office.

3.) You have to go to them gym, no exceptions. Always set your alarm for the time you have planned to go to the gym. If you have to, use multiple alarms to annoy yourself into getting out of bed.

4.) Post your goals in large writing on the refrigerator so you can see them every time you head to the kitchen.

5.) Limit your time you spend with friends that may be influencing these bad habits you started in the first place.

6.) Ask a good friend to join the gym with you and set specific times, and days you will be working out together. This one works great because you are held accountable.

7.) Don’t think about going to the gym or doing cardio, just do it. If you think about it you will talk yourself out of it.

8.) If you have the money then sign up for a personal trainer. Just be sure you find a good personal trainer.

9.) Exercise can be your hobby. Self defense classes, martial arts, mountain biking, hiking, football, basketball, soccer, and many other sports can be a great form of exercise. However, the same rules apply even when using these methods as your exercise. You have to stick to them and be regimented.

10.) Spending time with our loved ones doesn’t mean we have to sit on the couch or go out to eat. A brisk walk in the local park, or hiking a local mountain can be much more fulfilling than simply being couch potatoes together.

11.) Purchase a nice barbecue grill for your porch or back yard. That’s right, you have an excuse to get one now. The reason for this is that you can grill much more food and really get a few days ahead on preparing your food without even messing up your kitchen. More food and less cleaning.

12.) Go out and get yourself a lot of plastic ware so you can store and separate your food into proper meal portions. Don’t be stingy, get a lot, you do not want to leave room for future excuses.

13.) Buy plenty of dishwasher safe reusable water bottles that seal well. Water is a vital part of a healthy diet. To help get the desired amounts of water you may want to purchase plenty of sugar free water flavoring powders. To cut down on cost and excuses of not getting enough water it’s a good idea to get a water filter for your kitchen sink.

14.) Keep stocked up on quick healthy snacks to keep you from eating junk food when you are having an extremely busy day.

Implement these 14 tips and you will be back into your healthy routine once again.
