It depends on the intensity of the exercise. You could do very low intensity running and very high intensity cycling, in which case the cycling would be better for burning fat. Running is generally more demanding, though. Cycling is good because the impact on your joints is low compared to running.

I like to cycle more then running. It really depends on your body condition. I know for me I used to run track, but that wore my knees out so now I have to use the bike more.

I think running would burn more calories and more weight. I know some people who can bike 100 miles but cant run more than 1 mile lol.

Most definitely, the intensity matters. The thing about biking is that it has a lot of energy that is naturally produced by the conditions, aka penitential and kinetic energy. So, sometimes, you are not going 100%. Normally, during running, you are going 100% and end up burning more calories.

Cycling on hills will burn more than running in a straight line. Running on hills will burn more than cycling on a straight line. Cycling with a 25km/h+ speed will burn more than easy running, etc. It all depends on your intensity like everybody said so far. If you have the opportunity to do both running and cycling, why not do both?

I'd imagine cardio would do more for you when you are running. It's harder work to cover the same amount of distance...right lol?

Running can be more intense but it's also harder on your body. If you want intensity, I would recommend changing the gears on your bike (If your bike has gears, that is) to increase resistance, so you have to pedal harder to cycle. That's what I do and it's made a noticable difference. I would try lifting too, though, because my legs bulked up a bit from that and it'll look strange if you have thin arms and bulky legs.

I've done both and think they are both equal.
When I run, I run uphill so it works my body really hard. I sometime feel like I can't breath but I keep running until I reach the top of the hill. The area I live is hilly so once I reach the top I get about .5 miles of flat land and then it gets pretty hilly. It's one of the best workouts you can have and you will definitely shed fat and your legs will look awesome!
I started spinning about a month ago because I felt I needed a change in my exercise routine. Spinning is an intense workout so you get the same effect as your would running uphill except it's lighter on your joints. I really enjoy but I'll be honest. If you do it right and not ride easy, not only will your legs look great but so will your butt.
