In my opinion and based on the data I'm seeing, running is more intense than cycling and uses more muscle groups, therefore it helps shed more weight...but once again, I am no expert here, so if someone with more experience in this area has better information I would love to hear it. I want to make sure that I am getting the most bang for my buck so to speak when I am doing cardio.

Running is more intense but cycling is easier on your joints so it's healthier in the long run. Maybe you ought to give power walking a try. It's easier on your joints too and it is very healthy. My mother shed thirty pounds on power walking and good diet alone.

I have no research to back it up but I think running burns more calories since the activity uses more muscle groups. However, I think cycling would be better on your knees as opposed to running. Running is high impact, therefore more potential damage to your knees. I'm not a running fan.

I run a few years ago and I am delighted with this activity. It's kind of healthy therapy. If you are looking for what are the benefits of running is probably because you do not practice even the normally athletic and curious to see what benefits you should bring cheer to. To benefit not running long distances you have to do a week or go out every day. Running regularly, leaving three per week, half hour each time, causing positive changes in our body, some obviously more visible than others. ;)

If you just look at the position and natural resistance you should see your answer.

Running is your whole body weight and based off your pace. Cycling is based off of physics, to simplify the answer, that disperses the weight and increases the distance traveled.

Although it is good to have a variety if you want to shed the weight go for the run over riding the bike.

It depends on the intensity of the exercise. For example, cycling sprints would be more effective for fat loss than slow, continuous running at a low to moderate intensity. Low intensity exercise is good for when you don't have the energy to do high intensity training.

Running uses more muscle groups and therefore, it more effective than cycling.
This is my opinion

Definitely running. Your whole body is working. I like to do both, for variation, since I can't do one thing for too long.
