Craziest pushup anybody ?

Postby Bodybuild » Fri Jun 01, 2012 6:32 pm

Part of my daily workout is a set of pushups. I am lucky to train with a TaeKwonDo Master and he enjoys a lot of pushup styles. The craziest he came up with is a clapping pushup, you know, when you have to clap with your hands while being in the up position. Well in this case, he is asking us to clap in the back, not the front.
Ok I must say i thought it was completely impossible but was shown it is so will work on this one.
Do you know this pushup ? Are you able to do it ? Any trick ? Do you know a crazier one ?
By now pushup addicted ....

Have you ever come across the alligator push up? It is a crazy and cool push up variation, you move forward like an alligator - placing one hand in front of the other, pressing and then repeating the movement with the opposite hand. It's fun to do, I would recommend it if you are bored with push ups.

Weighted pushups are fun too. Throw some weights around your waist can help with the pump.

You tie weights around your waist for pull ups, not push ups. The best way to add resistance to a push up is to place a weight plate on your back, ideally you would use a partner to do this for you to make it easier. Another good option is for your partner to push down on your back.

I don't do pullups. I tie weights around my waste for my pushups bro. :D I have been doing it for years.

How do you tie the weights around your waist? Do the weight not touch the floor? I have seen this done before, he did it in a power rack - using the support bars to suspend himself above the floor, preventing the weight hanging below him from touching the floor.

My uncle once showed me a push-up he could do. He would go down and then briefly life his feet off the ground when he pushed back up. It blew my mind. I've never seen anyone else do it and I can testify from my attempts that it is the hardest push-up I've ever tried.

@OP I've tried the pushup, but don't really have the upper body strength to pull it off. It is an end of summer goal though.

Clapping behind sounds pretty crazy. I might try it sometime, but feel like I'm going to fall on my face! I like dong triangle pushups. You put your thumbs and index fingers together, forming a triangle in front of your face and do a pushup. It works your triceps more.
