NEW YORK – At a USA Network season premiere event in New York City, John Cena revealed on Twitter that Monday Night Raw will expand to a three-hour show, starting with the 1,000th episode on July 23 at 8/7 CT on USA Network.

Might give a lot more young guys some breaks. Either that or we will be suffering through more 20 minute promos :)

I think this is a good thing at times, but it can be also be hard on the creative team. I know I am always one to watch more wrestling. However, if it is going to be just more promos, then I could care less if it is a twenty hour edition.

I hate to say this, but it will probably let people have more of the promos we are all dreading. I know that this is why I record the show so I can fast forward the promos.

They need to elevate the middle tier titles again like they were doing with Cody and the IC title. Those IC matches were as important in the older days as the WWE title matches. Now its sort of ho-hum. The last great IC rivalries were long ago. I can't think of one that stands out in the last few years. That is telling.

While I'm a huge fan of Monday Night Raw, I don't like the idea of a three hour show. Sure, the longer air time means more exposure for some of the young up and comers, but I don't know if I really want to sit down and watch three hours of it. I really think they should just stick to the two hour format.

This will work very well if they continue to build up the tag team division. Those are the wrestlers that can keep floating between the shows and there won't be that big of an issue. There are some guys that need to stay on RAW and there are some that need to stay on Smackdown, like Ryback and for now, Daniel Sandow.

But, they need to create some real tag teams instead of just pairing up singles. When they do that, a three hour show will be a breeze to watch.

I thin they really need to bring back the last hour as Raw is WAR. Let Cena do his kiddie stuff for the first hour or whatever, and then let the show get edgier as time goes by.

They will probably end up having more backstage segments, and not give guys line Kidd any air time unless he's getting squashed by Ryback while wearing a mask.

I'm actually dreading the three hour show because I already don't get enough sleep as it is. I think it's going to come to the DVR now. At least I can skip the commericials and dorky promos.
