Postby dmeagher » Wed May 30, 2012 10:48 pm

How many extra calories are you guys getting from your shakes?

I felt I needed to make a new thread after the one I made about what you take your shakes with.

I was just wondering how many calorie are in your guys shakes.

My morning shake is 200 calories plus the 8 oz. of milk. One shake is 120 calories plus the 8 oz. of milk. The last shake is 120 calories plus the 10 oz. of milk. 10 additional calories from the fitness fiber that I put in each of them and 5 grams of additional fiber. 24 grams of protein in each shake, plus whatever the milk has. They aren't extra calories for me as they are figured into what I want for a day.

My shakes are pretty low in calories. I believe that on average my shakes are usually about 200 calories per shake. I don't need a massive amount of calories. ;)

My morning shake is 1109 calories, 49g protein and around 100+ carbs I think. I use Serious Mass 1 scoop + 1/2 cup oatmeal + 2 tbsp peanut butter + 12 oz of whole milk. Works pretty good for me to halt catabolism in the morning and jumpstart my body. I'm trying to gain mass so I aim for about 3500 calories per day but sometimes thats hard to get thats why these shakes are important for me :)

Wow, men are truly lucky. 1000+ calorie shakes?! That's almost all of my daily caloric intake!

How many calories a day are you eating if 1000 is close to the limit? That sounds really low. How tall are you? What kind of work out regimen do you have?

My normal protein shakes probably add up to 500 calories. 8 ounces of milk combined with 1 to 2 scoops of protein powder. Adding foods like ice cream, oats, flax and bananas can add even more if you are on a bulk.

Why would you add ice cream to a shake that already has milk? Also, is this natural ice cream like Breyer's or Haagen Daz? I just don't see the need if you are attempting a clean bulk.

I probably get close to 600 calories and 45 grams of protein from my shakes. Because they're so gigantic, I usually treat my shakes as extra meals (before sleeping or mid afternoon). I'm simply trying to bulk up at the moment, so the more calories and protein the better. I still use all natural ingredients though (ice cream, milk, a little coffee, a little banana) and it's pretty delicious!
