Do Fitness Programs Work

Postby Isabellas2007 » Sat May 26, 2012 3:54 pm

I know that every expert in the fitness world has their own program they preach about all the time. My question is do these actually work or are they more hype then good? I know some of the programs I have tried in the past have worked to a point, but have not completely made me feel good about what I was doing. What are your experiences?

I think fitness programs will work as hard as you do. If you make a commitment to follow a plan for six months, you will make some gains, but more important than that, you'll learn about what your body responds to.

From there, you can move onto something more challenging or add other components to continue making progress with your program or routine.

Most fitness programs will work for a period of time. Eventually you will reach a plateau on the program and you will need to make adjustments or start on a new program. However, there are many badly designed programs which will not optimise results.

Like others have said these will work for a time period. Then you will reach the plateau level. Once you reach this you need to change what you are doing and this can lead to you getting into the shape you want to be in!

Any fitness program will work if you commit and stick with it. I have found it helpful to vary my workouts so that I don't get bored and my body does not get used to certain workouts.

I usually do commit to the workouts, but after a while they seem to not do anything for me. This is why I am doubtful if these programs actually work or not and decided to ask what kind of experiences other people have had.

I think what you need to do is that as soon as they stop working, take what you've learned from it and apply it to your next program. Remember, the people that make up their own routines, often change them in some way after 6-8 weeks. There should be no difference in your mindset towards these various fitness programs.

This. Also keep in mind whatever your goal is your diet may need to be adjusted as well. Never forget to get enough rest either. You may be overtraining.

I'd like to add in addition to rest days, make sure that you are getting enough sleep! That is the time when the body is repairing itself, so you could be doing everything right, but if you are only tearing your body down, you will hit the wall.

I think it's important to have a program. This included fitness and nutrition. You have to not focus on just one thing. You will get bored. You will plateau. You need to revise your goals so that it is always challenging you.
