40 year old trying to get my act together

Hey everyone,

I just turned 40. I have been working out since my early 20's but never really achieved the kind of body I wanted. Mostly because of poor diet but my 30's were filled with health issues and injuries (plus marriage and 2 little ones). I have a good year behind me now, its been pretty steady but I am getting an mri on the lower back due to spasms that have gotten worse over the last 5 years. Hope to finally get it all together.

Thanks! I did a couple of lifts in this week and will find out what is going on with the back. The rest is willpower if I am able.

Also hoping to get some good news on squatting. I'm only 5'5" / 140pds and was squatting 235 for reps. BP was 205 for reps as well. Naturally when I got hurt I had to scale that back. I dropped squats all together and dropped the BP to 165.

Damn that's impressive. Both are good..how'd you get that high? bunch of years of lifting or what??

No as a matter of fact I only committed to it last year (squats). I started out with 95 pounds. Maybe its because I am so small I am closer to the ground :)

I actually just got some good news, my mri back normal so it might just be spasms from overuse. I go see my doctor Tuesday. As far as BP I was always strong there. You should see me do shoulders though. OH press is like 75 pounds, just terrible.

Welcome to the forum !^^ I think that you will find this place great.You can find many diet programs. I joined also not so recently ,and I'm simply in love with this community :).
