Using a Pre Workout for Yoga?

Postby Randomhero » Sat May 19, 2012 1:09 am

Hi guys, I usually dont take a pre workout drink for yoga. I only take my pre workout for heavy training/lifting days. My pre workout is C4 Extreme by Cellucor and I enjoy it a lot. However I'm wondering if you guys think taking a pre workout on something like Yoga is wasted or pointless?

Whats your take?

I personally would not want to use a pre workout for doing yoga. I would want to be very relaxed while doing yoga and a pre workout is going to do the opposite of that for me. I would not be able to sit still the enitre time.

I think using a pre-workout drink for yoga and even most cardio sessions is unnecessary and a bit overkill. While yoga can be strenuous, the pre and post drinks won't be necessary. Now, if you are doing something like hot yoga, you would need to hydrate yourself before and after.

There's no need. You'll be bloated and that's just counterproductive for Yoga. Staying hydrated throughout the day is enough to be in top form for a Yoga sesssion. What kind of yoga do you do, by the way?

Some forms of yoga are really intense. I've been to classes that had my heart racing, but then again it was a Pilates infused yoga class. If you are just doing standard yoga why not just have a berry smoothie. Maybe if you feel you need something you can have about 6oz of blueberries, strawberries, a splash of juice or milk and a 1/2 banana.

I would recommend just eating well on your yoga day. If your drink has a little caffeine in it, yoga won't be as relaxing as it should.
