Is Wrestling Worth The Pay

Is Wrestling Worth The Pay

Postby Isabellas2007 » Mon Apr 30, 2012 5:59 pm

I know wrestlers get paid a fair amount of money if they make it to the big leagues. However, is the pay the wrestlers make enough for the abuse their body takes? I know this is "fake" but the injuries are real and the moves no matter the training and level of training a wrestler has will still have an impact on their bodies. Is the pay worth it?

Many people are eager to join the WWE or the wrestling industry because of the attractive salary package. However, they do not know how much hard work goes on behind the scenes. No one can have a toned and muscled body overnight. Randy Orton took years to cement the reputation he is today, and not many have the patience or physical tolerance to go that far in Wrestling.

This is true. That is why I was saying is it really worth the pay to put your body through the pain it takes to get there or not. For some I think it is, but the wrestling world has definitely changed since the day of Earthquake or even Andre The Giant, don't you think?

You are absolutely correct in your assessment. Unless you make it to the very top, like John Cena or the Rock, the pay can be pretty meager, and the damage done to your body can stay with you for life. On top of that, you are constantly on the road, which means time away from your family. Unless you really think you have what it takes to make it to the big leagues, you should probably consider another career.

I think it's really not worth the pay because wrestling is a drama, all scripted and the winner is pre-determined. I hated it so much...

If you have the passion for it, and are getting paid pretty well, then it's worth it. Definitely not something I, or I imagine someone who doesn't have the passion and isn't getting paid a huge amount, isn't willing to get into.

It is what you consider worth the pay. For some wrestlers it is the crowd, but for others it is the money. If you are after the money, then you should only go and try to make it to the bigger federations to guarantee the pay is steady and right.

If you mean "is the pay worth it" for the fans? As a fan I'd say yes, however as a professional wrestler I'd say no. Nothing is worth the cost of your health, but hey that's what they live to do. Passion is passion. Sports entertainers and athletes at that level understand the risks involved but to them it's either 1) their passion all their life to make their dreams a reality or 2) they are chasing the dream of fame & fortune. I couldn't do it, but I appreciate and respect those that put their lives on the line for my own entertainment as a fan.

The same could be said for any sport though. Why put all that hard work and effort into something that will cause you brain damage or suicidal tendencies? The money is great, the fame is awesome.
