Looking for help

Postby racechick79 » Wed Apr 18, 2012 1:46 am

Hello all. I am a 33 year old mother of two. I am looking for help getting back in shape after my last pregnancy. I have lost a lot of the weight I wanted to, but am still looking to get some areas back in better shape now. My husband and I are also talking about having another child in the near future, so I may be picking everybody's brains about working out while pregnant, too!

Depending on how far into the future you and your husband are looking to have another child, joining a gym would be a great start to training unless you already have the necessary equipment at home (dumbbell, barbell, some machines etc).

We are looking to probaby start trying this fall sometime, so I probably wouldn't want to join a gym right now since I wouldn't be able to use it beyond the next few months. We do have some equipment and I have a few different weighted dumbbells.

Hey, if you want to work out and you only have a couple months to do so, I say go for it. A lot of gyms offer one-month memberships. There's always a way to fit in the exercise you want and need.

It is funny that you say that. I just told my husband that if I don't make it to my goal weight before we have more children (I am only about 7 pounds away...but it feels like 100); that I am just going to say "oh well" and then when we are done having children I am going to hire a personal trainer and tell him/her to "FIX IT!!"

You should be proud of yourself that you are willing to put in the work. Believe me, its not as common as you think. Getting right back to it is key (as time allows with little ones who don't sleep)

You can work out some while pregnant but don't overdue it. Equally important is how you eat while you are pregnant. I think this is an area a lot of people ignore. It's more important to get the nutrition you and the baby need then it is to just pound empty calories that aren't good for either of you.

Firstly, Welcome to the forum. Secondly, congratulations on the weight you have already lost. Continue to lose, and if you are pregnant, congrats, and it shows your strength to want to continue working out if so.

Thank you for all of the encouragement! I hit a plateau a few weeks back, but in the last week lost another couple of pounds, so I am hoping that is a good sign. I think it helps that the weather is nicer, so we are out and about (and not around food all day!) I have started to really kick my butt with Zumba, so I am hoping it is a good find :)
