To have defined abs you need low body fat. The abs respond to high frequency and high reps. Gymnastic exercises are good for building your abs, gymnasts have ridiculous core strength.

You want big abs, train it like any muscle.
8-12 reps for size, add weight (weighted sit ups, ect) when its too easy.

His body doesn't look natural to me. I am sure he has used steroids, unless he is at the high end of the genetic pool. Judging by his nutrition and his routine, he eats a lot of crap and drinks lots of alcohol, he negatives by using steroids.
Abs do respond better to the higher rep range, 12-15 reps.

I knew he drank a lot of alcohol; that is obvious. Thanks for the share. I wonder how often he works out.
