P90x

I would love to hear from anyone who has tried P90x. Is it difficult to stick to such an intense workout?

I have done it and I thought the program was great. The one thing I loved about this work out is that I could do it from the comfort of my own home. I didn't have to buy a gym membership in order to loose weight as well. My mid-section was slimmer and I had way more strength after completing the program. It was pretty hard starting out because I hadn't been involved in sports for some time, but I gradually began becoming stronger and less tired after each session. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to loose some weight.

When doing at home workouts, I think the best thing you can do is to do it with someone else. By having someone else to check up on you, or for you to check up on them, not only does it help you to stay focused on the workouts, but it really forces you to stick through it as long as everyone participating really wants to achieve a perfect body. Not only that, but added competition and encouragement goes a long way. From my personal experience, only the people that do P90x with a friend or a group of friends typically succeed.

I have never tried the P90x programme but I think it is a proven system, many people have transformed their body using P90x. The programme encompasses strength training, cardio, plyometrics, and yoga. It is a well-rounded programme, good for fat loss.

I never try P90X, I only do Jillians Michaels workout dvd. I'm sure ts a great program and will gives you results if ou stick with it and eat clean. From what I heard that the workout is too long, I guess it depends with the individual. I wouldn't mind to do it but I couldn't afford the sets. Good luck!.

Thanks for the feedback. A coworker of mine has been doing it for about 2 months and has lost around 40 lbs (granted she had about 150 total to lose). With summer coming, I see myself outside more so I'm not sure I would get the use out of the workout I would like, but at the same time would really like to tone up.

It's a pretty effective workout that makes you sweat things out.

I have gone through the entire process and I thought it was terrific. It really helps tone and develop your muscles at a good pace.

I think it's essential to remember that there is no "easy pass" when it comes to P90X. It will make you gain results, but it will also make you doubt your manhood at certain points! It's a great workout for those that don't want to leave their home.

I would definitely recommend it.

Its a good program to get the average person in shape. I did the whole program once and it definitely challenged me for the first few weeks, plyometrics was something I was new to at the time and man did I love it.

I have a criticism of P90X (feel free to disagree). The strength workout routines don't focus enough on muscle failure. For example, one routine is:

biceps, shoulders, triceps
biceps, shoulders, triceps
biceps, shoulders, triceps

This allows to much recovery time for each muscle group. A program that focused more on muscle failure would be:

biceps, biceps, biceps
shoulders, shoulders, shoulders
triceps, triceps, triceps

Working toward muscle failure increases the damage you do to the muscle, thereby requiring more repairs and, subsequently, larger muscle growth. I switched from the P90X way to a focus on muscle failure, and my workouts are shorter but seem more effective. Any thoughts?

I see your point, SirTenenbaum.

I think the best solution for that is to increase the weight you are lifting and lower the reps. You don't have to follow p90X to a tee, it's sometimes good to modify it slightly to suit your own needs.

For a lot of people, what he does is enough muscle failure to last a lifetime!

Nonetheless, I think increasing the weight would do a lot for anyone that feels it's not as effective.
