If you found yourself in a sport where you needed to lose some weight, what are some tips you use to eat less? Is there anything that you found that was overly effective in helping you to cut out some calories?

To be honest, I would never eat less. More often than not the problem isn't eating to much, it's eating too little. If your body isn't getting what it needs then it will store fat. That ability is what once saved us during times of famine, now it does the opposite and gives people that extra few pounds they could live without.

To better answer your question, I would probably need more info such as what type of sporting event. Without knowing that, I would still say that you might want to look at what your eating and when and try to implement nutrient timing into your diet.

What you have said is true. There are a lot of people who actually are not eating enough. They are not having enough calories to have a healthy metabolic cycle. Sometimes I think it is more about paying attention to what you eat than how much you eat.

I do not obsess over calories. I focus on the quality of the food I put into my body. I eat food rich in nutrients, calories, and inefficient at being stored as fat. For instance, only around 30% of the calories in protein can be stored as fat. Compared with around 70% in starch. I also time my carbohydrate intake around the training window to ensure the fuel is directed towards muscle cells and not fat cells.

It takes days of no food for your body to go into starvation mode. Studies have revealed that fasting actually slightly raises the metabolism. This makes sense from an evolutionary point of view.

I do think that i would be nice to go on a temporary vegan diet for you to lose weight for your goal. This will not be for life, because you just need to hit the target, right? So there isn't any reason why you should not try going on a vegan diet. If you cannot live without eating some meat, go for white meat and fish. Totally avoid red meat as of the moment.

If you're into sports then I suggest you eat more but eat small, just enough to fill you stomach.

Why avoid red meat? Grass-fed red meat is good for you, rich in omega-3 and nutrients. Red meat is high in protein and will take a long time to digest, it will therefore aid fat loss because of the thermic effect.

I have discovered that whenever I drink a glass or two of water some few minutes before eating, I tend to eat less because my body stomach always seems fuller. Using a smaller plate also does give you the impression that you have eaten more but in the real sense the quantity you have is less.

Drinking water before a meal is a good idea if you want to eat smaller meals. You will feel full quicker if you drink water with your meal.

I rarely feel the 'full' bloated feeling, I feel well-satiated but not full. The reason for this is my food choices. I do not eat foods like grains which bloat your stomach but do not supply sustainable energy. Foods like meat, vegetables and good quality fat will provide sustainable energy without the bloating.
