How should I feel after a workout

Postby fitnessk » Mon Apr 09, 2012 9:11 pm

Obviously a good workout is hard work, but how should I feel. Should I feel totally exhausted or more energized? I typically actually feel like I have MORE energy shortly following a good workout.

Well I feel tired and fatigued after a workout. Its specific to the muscle group I trained that day though.

So if I trained my legs then I'm usually limping and using the rails to assist me up the stairs. After an hour or two I'm fine, it isn't until the following day that my muscles are soar.

Do you workout early in the morning? Maybe that's why you feel more energized after the workout.

Sorry I did not specify that this is more specific to my cardio workouts. I am just starting to do more strength training and can feel some fatique and obviously soreness after all. And yes, I typically exercise in the morning before work and such.

I feel more energized after my workout regardless of whether I've just completed cardio or weights. My muscles may be a little sore though I wouldn't say that they are fatigued. Of course I follow a specific eating pattern that works to feed my muscles.

I guess it depends on your goals. When I go to the gym I have one mission, and that's to destroy myself. If I have enough energy left in me after the workout then it wasn't hard enough.

I know a lot of bodybuilders that workout to the point where they are puking.

I always feel tired but refreshed after a workout. Hmm, pretty confusing huh? It's like my muscles are sore and all but I feel good about myself because I know I did something good for my health and fitness.

You should feel good post-workout. Some people think you need to puke after a heavy squat session etc, this is wrong in my opinion. You are causing more damage than good, your body is telling you something! Your training can be intense without making you feel like crap after.

I'm not sure about others, but when I workout, I feel a short burst of energy that makes me want to do more, and then I find myself tired and fatigued.

I feel the same. The endorphins are rushing post-workout and I feel like I could do more. I once tried the 20 rep squat program, I didn't feel energetic after 20 rep squats, I felt dizzy and slightly sick, then fell into a deep squat induced sleep.

Lately I always feel energized, and it really does give me more energy. There was a time when I felt sleepy after workout. So weird. :?:
