I prefer by myself because it is hard to have a partner who has the same exact weights. :D

I have in the past. I've also done The Firm workouts and the Leslie Sansone walking DVDs where you hold 3 pound weights. I did feel that they definitely added to my calorie burn.

... to do so much. Nutrition is the most significant factor in weight loss. Consider doing a full body training using basic exercises. You could use weights or your body weight.

Try holding weights and bending over to the side, low weight, high reps. This is an exercise my trainer taught me.

None at the moment. I can't afford it. Meantime, I do my work out at home. I have some machines and free-weights. My aerobics I do out in the garden.

I kinda work out throughout the day :D. In the morning, i would have my stretches and a 30-minute walk. Late afternoon is when I do weights and more strenuous routines ending with stretching.

... your doctor is a good idea first. I have no idea what type of surgery you are getting but maybe concentrate on cardio since you can't life heavy weights. Maybe something like a stationary bike so you aren't bouncing around. Or you can do arm curls or triceps extensions in bed with 5 pound weights ...
