Re: Beginner's overall fitness program

... Any suggestions? I don't see why you wouldn't want to build some muscle. Building muscle is good for you, it doesn't mean you will be huge like a bodybuilder. You mentioned 'toned', for a toned look you will need muscle, otherwise you will just look skinny. Do less cardio, you don't need to do ...

Re: Ernestine Shepherd, World's Oldest Female Bodybuilder

Wow. That is very inspiring. I've always said that it is never too late, but the fact that she STARTED in her 50s makes me realize how true that statement is. Thanks for sharing this. I will be passing this information on to friends of mine.

Re: Ernestine Shepherd, World's Oldest Female Bodybuilder

Ernestine is very inspiring, regardless of your age you can do anything that you want to if you put your mind to it. She looks amazing and better than some people half her age.

What do you think about Ernestine Shepherd?

She is female bodybuilder and she didn't exercise for the most of her life. She's started well in her 50' and became Guinness Book of World Records' oldest female bodybuilder. She is now personal trainer and says that feel better than when she was 40. I think her story is amazing! What do you think?

Re: Is Counting Calories Necessary?

... be a slave to the numbers either. The average person doesn't need to be a slave to the numbers. You only need to obsess over calories if you are a bodybuilder preparing for competition or if you are a boxer making weight or an athlete. The average person will make progress without counting calories.

Re: The Difference between and Bodybuilding and Weight gain

The difference to me would be the level of dedication that the person puts into it. Plenty of people go on bulks, but only a few are able to devote their lives from sun up to sundown and every bite of food in between to being a bodybuilder.

If you can, find a MTV True Life on bodybuilding.

Re: Stair stepping advice

Haha! I actually find taking single steps more difficult, taking bigger steps is easier in my experience. Tommy Tucker (a successful natural bodybuilder and strength athlete) uses stair climbing for cardio, he leaps across multiple steps, it is very impressive.

Re: My Push/Pull Workout

Looks like a solid bodybuilding style split routine. I prefer to keep my routine simple, with less isolation exercises. I'm also not a fan of exercises like lat pull down, pull ups and chin ups are infinitely better exercises for your lats and back. Not a bad routine for a bodybuilder, though.
